The Bandra Kurla Complex is located towards the centre of Mumbai. A planned commercial area, the complex was developed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) as one of the growth centres. It was also constructed with an aim to decongest office spaces in south Mumbai. The area has been built on the marshes towards the north of Mahim Creek. There are several schools that have come up within the Bandra Kurla Complex such as Dhirubhai Ambani International School and American School of Bombay. Hospitals such as the Asian Heart Institute, Nirmala Nursing Home, Kalina Hospital and Dr Fehmada Nursing Home are in the vicinity. The MMRA Grounds are available for sporting events.
